Florian completed his PhD on physical interaction with audio at the Media Computing Group under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Jan Borchers in 2016. To find out what he did next, check out our alumni page.

 Research

The general topic of my research is "Physical Interaction with Audio": Since the use of digital audio became popular, the interaction with media also fundamentally changed. The very direct manipulation possibilities of analog media, e.g., cutting and scrubbing, were replaced by digital manipulation. Digital media has lot of advantages like non-destructive editing or exact copies. However, especially in the case of music, direct feedback is essential for fast performance. The aim of my research is to bring the direct manipulation metaphors of analog media to the digital age.

I am a teacher of the very successful iPhone Application Programming lecture.
