Eric completed his PhD on software frameworks for interactive audio and video at the Media Computing Group under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Jan Borchers in 2007. To find out what he did next, check out our alumni page.

My research interests lie in the area of multimedia systems design where time plays a key role in the interaction. Some of the key issues I looked at include representing time in the user interface and designing frameworks for time-based multimedia processing. Some of the projects I am or have been involved with:

Diploma/Masters Thesis students that I have supervised (in order of graduation):
Ingo Grüll, Jan Buchholz, Jonathan Klein, Thorsten Karrer, Marius Wolf, Urs Enke, Georgianna Farmaki, Saskia Dedenbach (in progress), Henning Kiel (in progress)

My personal projects/software can be found on my personal homepage at mac.com.

You can also view my LinkedIn profile.

Mini CV:

Eric graduated with a Bachelor's (B.A.Sc) degree in Computer Engineering from the University of British Columbia in Canada. He worked for Sony Electronics in Los Angeles, USA for two years before returning to academia, obtaining a Masters (M.Sc.) degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University in 2003. He has held previous internship positions at Sony Corporation's research headquarters in Tokyo, Japan, and MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates in Richmond, Canada. Most recently, he was at Apple Computer in Cupertino, California, working on QuickTime and Core Audio.

Eric practices and teaches Sun-style Taiji (Tai Chi) in his spare time. See the International Sun Tai Chi Association official website for more information.

More information about Eric can be found on his personal homepage at mac.com.
