Aachen Maker Meetup: August 21, 2019
After last month's anniversary event, this month's meetup was decidedly less hectic. Everyone gathered in the Fab Lab at first, where we took a first look at the lab's brand-new LPKF S104 PCB mill to create printed circuit boards, which now comes with a solder paste dispensing option, and is accompanied by a semi-automatic pick-and-place tool and a professional reflow oven. An SMD soldering special event is clearly on the meetup horizon.
After the obligatory pizza delivery, we gathered in the seminar room where Prof. Jan Borchers gave a quick summary talk of interesting new research into tools for makers and electronics hobbyists, as presented at CHI 2019, the world's premier conference on Human-Computer Interaction.
Finally, we decided to do another field trip, not next month, but in October, when our meetup will visit the rooms of DigitAC, a hackerspace in the middle of the city, at Martinstr. 10-12.
