Guide for focussing the Laser Cutter

In general, the Laser itself is focussed onto a focal spot. Inside the depth of the focus, around 1-2mm below or above the focal plane, the Laser beam will be straight.

Focus for Engraving

To get a sharp and clear Engraving, the focal plane has to be set exactly on top of the the Material, otherwise the engraving could get blurry

Focus for Material up to 3mm thickness

For Material up to 3mm in thickness, the lasercutter can be focused on top of the Material and this will result in a very straight cut.

Focus for Material thicker than 3mm

Here the focalplane has to be set to 50%-75% of the material thickness. Best Focal heights will be listed here:

Material Thickness Focus Height
4mm coming soon (try 2mm)
5mm coming soon (try 3mm)
6mm coming soon (try 4mm)
