Bambulab X1E
Machine status: Ready to use
Our Bambulab X1E is a high-performance FDM 3D printer with advanced capabilities, including a fully enclosed build chamber and high-speed printing. Like its smaller sibling, the Bambulab A1 Mini, it features an Automatic Material System (AMS) for seamless multi-material printing and automated filament switching. Both printers joined our lab in 2024, expanding our capacity for rapid prototyping and complex manufacturing projects.
This printer can deal with most filaments. Currently, we have PLA, PETG, PLA CF, TPU, and PAHT CF available. It can print all of these materials, except TPU which can not be used in the AMS, because the BambuLab X1E is only intended to be used with the AMS. If you want to print with very soft TPU, look at our BambuLab A1 mini.
How to Print
We only use original Bambulab materials with this printer. This ensures optimal performance and simplifies material setup in the Bambu Studio slicer.
Members of our lab with Fab Lab access can print via network: Connect to our i10 WiFi and install the Bambu Studio slicer. To connect to the printer, you must log in with your Fab Lab account. The printer will then appear automatically in the slicer. Select the material(s) to use and send your print job directly from Bambu Studio on your computer. Please name the print job like <your name>_<description>, e.g. Julian_PyBadge-Case, so that if other people see a print failing, they know who to contact.
You can monitor progress via the built-in camera in the Bambu Handy app or directly check the printer in the Fab Lab. Note that Fab Lab access is required to check on and pick up your print.
AMS
Currently, we have two AMS for this printer. The first one is usually filled with white and black PLA while the second one usually has some PETG loaded. The remaining spots can be filled with filament as needed. In the near future, we will get two more.
