FLApp: The Future Lab Aachen App
Future Lab Aachen is a joint initiative of the city and the universities of Aachen to showcase scientific activities, breakthroughs, and events in the city. Our lab developed FLApp, the Future Lab Aachen App, that takes you on a walking tour through the inner city, pointing out places of scientific discovery and innovation along the way. It has been available on the App Stores since 2017, and is updated regularly.
What links Aachen Cathedral to multimedia specialists from RWTH Aachen University? The new science guide explains not only that. It leads you to 13 prominent science locations – around Aachen's old town and the city campus of RWTH Aachen University. FLApp presents well-known and unusual locations, peeks behind the curtain, and highlights the most fascinating research projects of Aachen's universities in compact articles. With audio guide, images, videos, augmented reality, and expert statements.
The app is GPS-based. A dynamic map shows your current location. Steles in the city mark each station and can notify you of their proximity using iBeacon signaling. Digital 3D objects in augmented reality are available at select stations.
FLApp is available in English and German, as a free download for iOS and Android. Experience Aachen in a whole new way!
