Aachen Maker Meetup #168: Painting Eggs, Catapults, and The Deceptive Dungeon

In the 168th Maker Meetup at the i10 department of RWTH Aachen University makers showcased their interesting projects, prepared for easter by using the Eggbot to paint eggs, and played the Deceptive Dungeon.

Birgit's Projects:
As usual, Birgit brought many 3d-printed projects:

  • A fully printed catapult with a surprising range of multiple meters
  • A holder for a vase that will be painted in the future to look like a climbing plant
  • A partially transparent egg for easter
  • A fully 3d-printed and self-designed deck of playing cards

Martin's Projects:
Martin brought dragon hair clips printed with a cool multicolor filament

He also showcased a 2-player game with catapult, where players try to shoot 3d-printing poop into the container

Sadra's Project:
He showcased the split keyboard he built using two microcontrollers and a custom PCB

Eggbot:
Since the easter holidays were only a few days away, we dug out our Eggbot, a computer-controlled plotter to draw on eggs. Of course, we so many makers in one place, only 3d-printed eggs were painted.

The Deceptive Dungeon:
Another highlight of the evening was the Deceptive Dungeon: a room-sized, physical game that showcases deceptive patterns, malicious designs that manipulate the user into making choices against their best interest, but brings these usually digital patterns into the physical world. The Dungeon was created in the Master's practical lab, turned into a conference submission, and will be presented soon at the conference in Japan. For more information, take a look here.
