Pipes Game Concept
How to Build Your Pipe
The following parts will be at the players arsenal. The system may only offer special kind of parts. Also the enemy may choose to further limit the players selection by special actions. Once picked, a part can be freely rotated, but can only be placed adjacent to an open pipe system such that at least one side has an end-to-end connection. All parts fit into a predefined karthesian grid. Regarding the curved piece, you can even put two parts into the same cube, other parts may be upgraded to fit into the same cube as an already placed part.
The straight pipe
Can be upgraded to fit one additional curved pipe or to a cross
Upgraded straight pipe with curved pipe
Pipe Cross
Upgraded from straight pipe.
Basic curved pipe
Can be rotated in any direction.
Two Curved Pipes in the same cube
Aligned on one plane, two curved pipes fit into a single cube without an upgrade.
Upgraded curved pipes
In this constellation, the curved pipes must be upgraded to fit.
Further upgraded curved pipes
These connect on all six sides.
End piece
Can be used to close up an open branch. When an end piece reached no water leaks, but water flow in the other branches increases. If no open branches remain the pressure will cause your pipe system to burst.
Reservoir
The reservoir can take much more water than a normal piece of pipe and buys the player precious time. These parts will not be available for the player to place, they will be placed beforehand on the playing grid and players may connect their pipes to them.
Three-way split
Can be placed in any direction and rotation. As soon as water branches it flows with slower speed in all branches. Players may choose on which open branch they place their tile during their turn. Once your pipe system is branched, you can close open branches with an end piece, without danger of bursts.
Upgraded three-way split
A straight pipe can be modified to fit into the same grid as the three-way split. Which part is placed first, does not matter.
Four-way split
Money
At each active turn, a player gains a small amount of (virtual())money. Money is used in the active turn to place upgraded pipes or in the passive turn to do evil stuff to your opponent.
Evil Stuff
While the active player is placing his pipe, the passive player may choose to spend his money on sabotage actions. These include:
Damaging pipes
A damaged pipe will leak water. This leak is to small to significantly decrease the flowing speed of the water. However, spilled water will accumulate and can end the game for the targeted player once a certain threshold is reached. therefore it is important for the victim to tend to fractured pipes. he can select a repair tool and try to reach the damaged pipe with touch gestures, while looking around obstructing parts. Mending pipes can only be done in ones own active turn and therefore costs precious time.
Reserving parts
During his active turn, a player may choose to reserve a piece of pipe for himself, thus restricting the other one to take it during the next turn. Reserving costs money.
Forcing the enemy to place a special tile
Completely removing the choice for the enemy player next round, this expansive action lets you select a pipe that your enemy must place in his next turn possibly forcing him to pay for an unwanted upgrade or even discard his turn by trashing the piece.
Placing obstructions
Don't want your enemy to connect to the reservoir ahead? No problem, place a brick in front of it.
Increaing pressure
Make the enemies water flow faster for a few turns.
