Speech Technology in the Mobile Ecosystem
Richard Breuer, Nuance CommunicationsThe main focus of the presentation is to explain the role of Nuance Communications as a leading company in the accessibility area. After a short introduction to the company we will speak about the roles of Nuance and speech technology in the mobile ecosystem. We will present examples of successful apps using speech technology. Finally, we will present the Nuance Mobile Developer Program (NMDP) that allows iPhone and Android app developers to participate in the next big evolution of mobile user experiences.
Richard Breuer (Senior Sales Engineer) started with Nuance Communications in 2000 as a trainer for speech recognition and application development products, as well as technologies such as VoiceXML and SALT. From 2002 on, he was a systems architect in the professional services team, focusing on design and development of voice portal solutions. Among other systems, he designed the Deutsche Bank voice portal. In 2004 he joined the sales engineering organization, responsible for the German speaking market. Since 2010 he has been assigned the role of a subject matter expert for enterprise speech products in EMEA.
Mobile Navigation
Felix Lamouroux, iosphereDer Markt rund um den Mobilfunk und im speziellen um mobile Navigation und Kartendaten unterliegt einem rasanten Wandel. OpenStreetMap, Wikipedia und andere freie Datenbanken ermöglichen den Launch innovativer Produkte und Dienstleistungen bei geringem Startkapital und unternehmerischem Risiko. In seinem Vortrag gibt Felix Lamouroux einen Überblick zu den prägenden Veränderungen in diesen Segmenten und geht u.a. auf die Bedeutung des iPhones für die Entwicklung derartiger, mobiler Datendienste ein. Als Mitgründer der iosphere GmbH schildert er ferner seine ganz persönlichen Erfahrungen als erfolgreicher Einsteiger in diesem Markt und zeigt, wie Markttrends sinnvoll genutzt werden können.
Nach einem BWL-Abschluss an der Universität zu Köln hat Felix Lamouroux eine Promotion als Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Lehrstuhl vom Prof. Dr. Axel Ockenfels begonnen. Seit August 2009 ruht die Promotion und er konzentriert sich auf die Entwicklung von iPhone Applikationen in Eigen- und Fremdauftrag. Seine iPhone-Applikationen OffMaps und Trails gehören seit Langem zu den zehn meistverkauften Navigations-Apps im AppStore in Deutschland. Im September 2010 hat Felix Lamouroux die iosphere GmbH gegründet.
Die Firma iosphere entwickelt mobile Software und Frameworks (v.a. für Apples iOS Plattform) im Bereich Navigation, Karten, Tourismus und Sport. Die Firma wurde von Felix Lamouroux und Lukas Mollidor im September 2010 gegründet und baut auf der Entwicklungserfahrung der beiden Gründer auf. Als erstes Produkt wird im Herbst 2010 die neue Version des Bestsellers OffMaps basierend auf einem neuen eigenen Karten-Renderer und Framework vorgestellt.
