Bambulab H2D

Machine status: Ready to use

Our Bambulab H2D is an all-in-one, dual-nozzle FDM 3D printer designed for high-speed, multi-material fabrication. It features a fully enclosed build chamber with active heating up to 65 °C and hotends capable of 350 °C, ensuring minimal warping and excellent layer adhesion even with advanced engineering filaments. With a generous 350 × 320 × 325 mm build volume, closed-loop servo extruders, and a Real High-Flow Hotend option, you can consistently print at speeds up to 1000 mm/s and accelerations of 20 000 mm/s² for rapid prototyping and complex geometries.

This printer joined our lab in April 2025, expanding our capacity for larger and more intricate projects.

Supported Materials
This printer handles most 1.75 mm filaments. Currently available: PLA, PETG HF, PLA CF, TPU, and PAHT CF. Note that very soft TPU (not explicitly “AMS-compatible”) must be loaded manually, as only AMS-approved filaments are managed automatically.

How to Print

  1. Network Connection

    • Connect to our i10 Wi-Fi network.

    • Install Bambu Studio on your workstation.

    • Sign in with your Fab Lab credentials; the H2D will appear automatically.

  2. Job Setup

    • Select your material(s), nozzle configuration, and slicing parameters.

    • Name your job <your name>_<description>, e.g. Julian_PyBadge-Case, so failures can be traced.

    • Send directly from Bambu Studio to the printer.

AMS (Automated Material System)

The H2D is equipped with two independent AMS—one for each nozzle—allowing fully dynamic filament allocation per job. Instead of pre-loading fixed colors, the printer will recommend the optimal assignment of up to two spools based on your multi-color or multi-material print. Filaments are swapped seamlessly during printing to minimize purge waste and maximize efficiency.

Feel free to experiment with combinations: reserve one hopper for support material, or load two contrasting colors for intricate color-change effects. The H2D’s smart algorithms will handle the rest, ensuring smooth, uninterrupted production.
