AMM #173: LED cube, a Computer on Breadboards & Much More
At this month's Aachen Maker Meetup, people brought amazing and some very complex projects. It was a very interesting Meetup with many new faces and interesting conversations. Of course, we also had a look at our FabLab.
Torsten brought an 8x8x8 LED cube that he built several months ago. No individually addressable LEDs here, only smart wiring: each column is connected on one pin, and each layer is connected on the other. Only one layer is on at any time, and quickly rotating through all layers gives this amazing illusion. Even all animations were done by Torsten, a really amazing project!
Sadra brought a new version of his keyboard, this time wireless and with a small screen.
Andreas took DIY to the next level and built his own computer on breadboards. You can program 4 mathematical operations that will then be executed one after the other. With many LEDs, you can follow the machine's calculations.
Martin already prepared for the Halloween season and brought some 3D-printed decorations.
Markus brought these amazing small "toothbrush robots" that move with the help of a vibration motor, as well as some borders. He even gifted them to another guest.
Jan brought tiny Morse devices that can communicate with each other.
Last, but definitely not least, Birgit, of course, brought some 3D prints. This month, this included a dice tower and a small chest.
