AMM #179: Pineapples, Clocks & Model Making

At this month's Maker Meetup, we enjoyed lots of pizza and brownies and saw some 3D-printed and electrical projects. Of course, we also toured our FabLab for all new attendees.

As always, Martin brought lots of cool 3D-printed stuff. The highlight was a pineapple that can be disassembled into coasters. He also brought a rainbow watering can, a container for organic waste with a closable lid, and a dispenser for detergent.

This month, Roger brought again a very interesting piece of electronic history: A clock that uses a cathode ray tube to produce a line at the number that should be highlighted. Each tube reacts to pulse signals to cycle through the numbers. Everything is controlled by a microcontroller.

Torsten brought a few 3D prints he modeled himself to store some tools on his IKEA pegboard. Very useful!

Of course, Birgit not only joined us to celebrate, but she brought a project herself: A wonderful model of a small Japanese hut. She combined 3D-printed objects with normal materials like paper and sand. Install an LED from BambuLab that can be turned on with the yellow magnetic "wand", and you get this masterpiece. She also used certain 3D-printing settings to give the outside walls a wooden texture, and used our laser cutter to turn Finnpappe into a very realistic-looking wooden floor.
