Aachen Maker Meetup #165: Creative Projects and Collaborative Innovation

The 165th Maker Meetup at the i10 department of RWTH Aachen University brought together another exciting collection of projects, reflecting the diverse talents and creativity of the maker community.

Jan's Projects:
Jan showcased a set of innovative 1.5V Li-Ion batteries from XTAR, paired with the VX4 charger. These batteries prevent deep discharge with integrated electronics and deliver consistent 1.5V until their last 5% of capacity, at which point they drop to 1.1V to trigger a low-battery warning. This feature is ideal for devices like Eve thermostats. Jan highlighted that these batteries currently offer the highest capacity in their category and are available for 5–6 € each. Variants with USB-C charging are also available for added convenience:

Andreas' Projects:
Andreas displayed his laser-cut and printed programmable blocks, designed to simplify programming for beginners. The blocks are compatible with JavaScript and Python and are part of a project to control a small vehicle. This collaboration with Stella aims to provide an engaging introduction to coding and robotics.
