Hardware

The Squeeze-A-Tune prototype is a very simple device. It is made of a hot water pipe insulation, LEDs, photocells, buttons and lots of duct-tape. It is connected to the computer through a Teleo multi-IO module.

First, we cut open the pipe insulation.

Then, we assembled the photo sensors and LED light sources to drive them.

The sensors and LEDs were placed inside the tube.

The next image shows how the sensors and LEDs are placed. The sensors are depicted as red spots, the leds green. Please excuse the lack of drawing skills. The more the device is pressed or bent, the less lightfalls on the sensors, increasing their resistance.

We attached the cables, and to prevent light from getting in, the tube was sealed with lots of tape. Finally we hooked it up to the Teleo module.
