Heuristic Evaluation

Heuristics derived from our user interviews and experience with the paper prototype:

  • PRIVACY
  • POSSIBILITY FOR DIRECT MANIPULATION
  • SHORT PATH TO REACH A FUNCTION

Design changes after analysing our prototype using the 9 golden rules and our own heuristics:

  • Be consistent
    - No Zoom-Function in 'My Offers'-overview but in 'Browse'
  • Provide feedback
    - When clicking an icon it briefly blinks letting user know that the functionality behind it now has been activated. Blinking gives information about reaching the "correct" icon in relation to the users' mental model.
  • Minimize memory Load
    - When replying to a message automatically fill in username and subject.
  • Avoid errors
    - This principle has not been considered enough in case of the "empty trashcan" icon which is placed too close to the "back" icon (also using the gestalt law in a misleading way as _similar_ supposed to be close together)

    - Missing confirmation dialogue when clicking 'Empty trashcan'
