Wir werden wieder einen live video broadcast ab 13 Uhr schalten:<br />

Reiner wird eine DWG Datei lasern. Er Nutzt das Gerät zum ersten mal. Erstellt hat er die Datei mit AutoCAD.<br />

Markus wird eine Platine für einen Brushlessregler fräsen. Dazu nutzt er die CNC-Fräse im FabLab. Zeitgleich wird Hannah eine neue Schriftart auf dem Lasercutter schneiden. Ihren Entwurf von letzter Woche findet ihr hier:<br />

Luc wird daraufhin weitere Teile auf dem 3D-Drucker ausdrucken für das Formel1-Auto der RWTH Aachen.<br />

Im Anschluß werden Patrick und Christian den alten Stolberger Bahnhof auf dem Lasercutter ausschneiden.<br />
<br />
Als letzten Gast an diesem Open Lab Day erwarten wir den Markus, der einen Ultimaker 3D-Drucker bauen möchte. Die nötigen Holzteile wird er auf unserem Lasercutter schneiden.<br />

            <title>Connect Four</title>

            <description><![CDATA[Jan Thar created a 3D Connect Four Game. He used the <a title="lasercutter" href="lasercutter" class="wiki ">lasercutter</a> for cutting and marking acrylic and wood for the case. Other parts were made from black ABS plastics on the <a title="3dprinter" href="3dprinter" class="wiki ">3dprinter</a>. The PCBs for the Arduino Shields were milled with the <a title="PCB Milling Machine" href="mill" class="wiki ">PCB milling machine</a>.<br />

He used wood, because this is a cheap material that can be cut with the <a title="lasercutter" href="lasercutter" class="wiki ">lasercutter</a>.             <title>Helle Köpfe 2010</title>

            <description><![CDATA[20 pupils from Primary School visited the FabLab. They were part of a program called 'Helle Köpfe'. They discussed smart clothes and then created a soccer ball with the <a title="lasercutter" href="lasercutter" class="wiki ">lasercutter</a>. The idea was to create a 3D ball out of paper. A 2D design was cut out using the lasercutter and then the kids folded it so it became a 3D ball.<br />

Using our lasercutter, she is turning her design into a 3D physical model for her diploma thesis, by cutting her model parts out of laminated cardboard ("Finnpappe"). First, Hannah Groninger and Professor Thomas Schmitz learned how to use the laser cutter. They are architects and want to etch or mill copper. This will become a fun collaboration.<br />

Then, Eleonor, Marcus, and Michael from the Department of Technology Transfer and Research Funding visited the FabLab. They are patent scouts and want to send inventors to the lab soon.<br />

            <description><![CDATA[Today we created a stamp for frog eggs on the 3D printer. The stamp will help biologists to put frog eggs into a special environment.<br />

In the afternoon, 60 students visited the fablab. They wanted to learn what a fablab is and how to study computer sciences at RWTH Aachen University in general.<br />
<br />
Thorsten used the 3D printer to create parts for a costume he wants to wear at a party.<br />
<br />
Sarah and Moritz printed a camera holder.<br />
<br />
Yesterday, Christian and a friend from Philips visited the fablab and milled a PCB for their OLED panel and David created the "Dragonbox" for your AVR Dragon board.             <description><![CDATA[Today, a group of young pupils visited the FabLab. I am not sure if they speak English, so I will switch to German:<br />
<br />
Heute war eine Gruppe junger Schüler vom tandemKids Projekt (http://www.tandemkids.de/) im FabLab. Es waren Schüler, die im Durchschnitt wohl das siebte Schuljahr besuchen. Sie haben die Geräte im FabLab erklärt bekommen und gelernt, was Personal Fabrication ist und warum auch Kinder einen Platz im FabLab haben: kreative Köpfe erfinden bei uns Dinge und fertigen sie direkt vor Ort, das Alter spielt dabei keine Rolle!<br />
<br />
Heute abend haben wir einen Ordner aus Finnpappe gelasert sowie eine Visitenkarte mit eingebautem Planetengetriebe. Beide Objekte gibt es bei thingiverse zum freien Download:<br />

Spannend wurde es dann, als die Kinder ihre mitgebrachten Gegenstände wie Spiegel, Acrylglas oder Ordner in den Laser gelegt haben, um sie mit eigenen Motiven zu veredeln.<br />

Für mich war es ein sehr schöner Abend und ich konnte selbst viel lernen im Dialog mit den jungen Nachwuchs-Fabbern.<br />

            <title>Aixtream Racing</title>

            <description><![CDATA[Today, a team of pupils from the 11th grade of the Einhard-Gymnasium Aachen visited the fab lab. The young engineers designed a model of a car with a 3D CAD software. They manufactured some parts with our 3D printer. They will paticipate in a contest called <a class="wiki external" target="_blank" href="http://www.f1inschools.de" rel="external">"Formel 1 in der Schule"</a> and we hope that they will win. The car can reach a speed of more than 100 km/h and it is designed very well. Good luck team aixtream Racing!<br />
